Count potholes on roads, says SP; Police headquarters reject claim

police

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pathanamthitta superintendent of police Swapnil M Mahajan’s direction that the SHOs should find potholes on the main roads within the station limits and submit an urgent report has sparked a controversy. According to the direction, information about potholes should be given to the special branch in order to report in the district level review meeting. The SHOs were instructed to fill in details, including name of the station, name of the road and who is in charge of the preservation of the road, area of potholes among others, on a special form.

However, as the move turned controversial, the police headquarters rejected the SP’s claims and said that no such instructions were given from the headquarters. Hints suggest that an explanation has been sought from the superintendent of police.
