Murder attempt aboard aircraft: Discovered political conspiracy, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in the assembly that there was a political conspiracy in the case related to the murder attempt against him inside the Indigo flight. He also said that the police have found details regarding the involvement of political party leaders in the conspiracy.

"The first and third accused, Farzeen Majeed and Suneeth Narayanan, are members of the Youth Congress Mattannur unit. the president and general secretary of the Youth Congress Mattanur constituency. Naveen Kumar, the second accused, is the Kannur district secretary and KS Sabarinathan, the fourth accused, is the state vice president. Sony George, the accused who tried to block the Chief Minister's vehicle at Kakkanad, is a Congress worker. He is accused in 11 other criminal cases," the CM said.

"Thampanoor police had registered a case against five persons in connection with the conspiracy to kill LDF convener EP Jayarajan at Thycaud guesthouse. The second and fourth accused died. First accused KPCC president K Sudhakaran, third accused TP Rajeevan and fifth accused PK Dinesan are facing trial," he said. The CM also informed that the trial proceedings have been stayed by the High Court.

"K Sudhakaran's former driver and Congress leader Prashant Babu had revealed that Sudhakaran was involved in the murder attempt against EP. Petta Dinesan, the second accused in this case, was sentenced to 19 years of rigorous imprisonment in another case. He was also convicted in the SFI leader KV Sudheesh murder case. Some of the incidents centered around Manjeswaram involve people from outside the state," the CM added.
