Human sacrifice for treasure in Tamil Nadu, sorcerer kills partner

kk

CHENNAI: A sorcerer killed a farmer in Tamil Nadu to get hold of treasure. The incident happened in Thenkanikottai of Krishnagiri district on last Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Lakhmanan, a farmer who hails from Kelamangalam. He was found dead in his own farm and his head had been badly hit. Lemon, crimson and camphor were found near the dead body, indicating that witchcraft had taken place.

Suspecting human sacrifice, the police started an investigation focusing on this. Then, Mani, a native of Dharmapuri, was taken into custody. During the interrogation, Mani, a sorcerer has confessed. Mani was the last person who spoke to Lakshmanan on the phone.

The sorcerer Mani believed that there was treasure in the betel nut farm. He had also convinced Lakshmanan about this. Human sacrifices must be made to find the treasure. For this, both of them planned to kill the woman who regularly comes to Mani for treatment. Mani then asked the woman to come to the farm for treatment. But she didn’t turn up even after waiting for long. The two argued over this. Mani then decided to sacrifice Lakshmanan himself. So, he hit Lakshmanan on the head and killed him and then performed puja. After that, he searched the entire farm for treasure but it ended in vain, so he abandoned the body and escaped.
