Former MLA Venganoor P Bhaskaran passes away

KOVALAM: Former Nemom MLA and former district committee member of CPM Venganoor P Bhaskaran passed away due to old age-related ailments on Thursday. He was 81 years old. He breathed his last at around 1 am on Thursday. The funeral was held yesterday at 3.30 pm with full official honours on his house premise.

Bhaskaran made his entry into politics through RSP when he was a student. He was the Nemom MLA for five years from 1996. Although he had contested in 2001 and 2006, he lost in the elections. He had also done remarkable work as a member of the District Council and President of Venganur Panchayat. He had served as CPM branch secretary, local committee secretary, area secretary and district committee member. An active worker of the party, he was later removed from the district committee due to ill health and old age. Wife: Vijayakumari. Children Dr BV Ranakumar and Ranjith Kumar.
