Passengers prefer rides by paying bus fare; auto drivers in Vellanad stand protests by making rice porridge

VELLANAD: The autorickshaw drivers of Vellanad stand protested by making rice porridge against certain drivers for giving rides by taking bus fare. The drivers of Company Mukku autostand in Vellanad are taking the passengers on the bus fare. Although they told them several times not to do this, it continued. So, the workers sought a new way of protest.

The complaint is that certain autos are running service by taking more passengers than permitted from Vellanad town and only charges the bus fare. Because of low fare, more passengers prefer this. As a result, autorickshaw drivers of Vellanad stand are unable to get passengers. So, they protested against this by making rice porridge and also filed a complaint at Aryanad police station. They ended the protest as the police assured that the issue would be resolved through discussion.
