THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the High Court verdict related to the appointment of Priya Varghese, BJP state president K Surendran has come up criticising the government over the alleged backdoor appointments. He said that the government was embarrassed by the High Court verdict that Priya Varghese was not qualified to be appointed as an associate professor of Kannur University and the verdict was a slap in the face of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Surendran went on to say that the verdict applies to all backdoor appointments during the LDF government and that all eight VCs should resign on the basis of this verdict.
"Pinarayi Vijayan should understand that there is a legal system in the country. It is only a delusion of communists that they can subvert the constitution. The Left government should be ready to apologize to the people by withdrawing all the appointments that do not follow the UGC norms. Those who worked behind the illegal appointment of Priya Varghese should and action should be taken against them," Surendran said.
Surendran, who mocked the protest programs organized by the LDF against the actions of the Governor, said that people are now asking whether Sitaram Yechury and his supporters will take out a protest march to the High Court and the Supreme Court.
