NEW DELHI: Union Ministry of Finance has denied rumours about replacing Mahatma Gandhi’s face in the currency notes. Finance Ministry today clarified in Parliament that the government does not intend to remove Gandhi's image from currency.

Earlier there were demands to include the images of Hindu gods and freedom fighters like Subash Chandra Bose. But now the Finance Ministry has clarified that they don’t intend to make any changes in the currency.

The Finance Ministry also stated in the Lok Sabha that the RBI itself has clarified this. Minister of State Pankaj Choudhary informed this in a reply given to a question raised by Anto Antony MP.
