Thick Fog grips Kochi, four flights diverted to capital city

KOCHI: A thick layer of fog engulfed parts of Kochi. Four flights scheduled to land in Nedumbassery have been diverted to the capital city due to poor visibility because of the heavy fog. The Air India flight from Sharjah, Emirates flight from Dubai, Gulf Air’s flight from Bahrain and Air India Express from Doha were diverted.

The thick layer of fog enveloped Kochi and adjoining areas from early Thursday morning. This caused difficulty for transportation also. Reports said this is the first time such a thick fog is experienced in Kochi. There were heavy rains in Ernakulam last night. The fog enveloped the district soon after this.
