Letter controversy; BJP intensifies protest by announcing hartal at Thiruvananthapuram Corporation on January 7

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP is intensifying its agitation against Thiruvananthapuram Corporation mayor Arya Rajendran in the letter for appointment controversy. As part of its agitation, the party has announced a hartal on January 7th at Thiruvananthapuram Corporation demanding the resignation of the mayor.

On January 6th, party activists will surround the Corporation office. The hartal will be held in all hundred wards coming under the Corporation.

BJP District President, VV Rajesh, had said earlier that as part of BJP’s decision to intensify its protest, the party will adopt many protest methods including hartal.

Mayor Arya Rajendran, had written a letter to CPI(M) leader Anavoor Nagappan asking for a list of party workers to be nominated to the vacancies at the Corporation. She used the official letter pad to write to the communist leader. In the letter she asked for a list of party workers to be appointed for daily wage appointment of 297 persons at the Corporation health sector.
