THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, said that before swearing in Saji Cheriyan as Minister again, he must examine the speech in which Saji Cheriyan insulted the Constitution and how the police absolved him of the charges.
Yesterday, even after continuous pressure from the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary for public administration, the Governor did not inform of his decision. The Additional Chief Secretary, Jyothilal, personally requested the Governor’s decision as time is needed to invite the guests and to do other arrangements. However, the Governor refrained from speaking his mind. This uncertainty in the swearing-in-ceremony was earlier reported by Kerala Kaumudi.
The Governor told the media that usually the recommendation of the Chief Minister is accepted by the Governor. But this is not a normal case. Saji Cheriyan had to resign after the CM was also convinced that he had committed a grave mistake by degrading the Constitution. The Governor added that he needs to examine if that situation had changed.
