NEW DELHI: Siddaramaiah, Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka on Sunday likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Adolf Hitler. The Congress leader added that PM Modi’s rule would last “only a few days more” just like Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Francisco Franco's rule.
“He's the prime minister, let him come. We don't have any issues. But if he says even a hundred times that BJP will come to power, I'll make it clear that does not happen”, he added.
“People won't believe it, but what happened to Hitler? He walked around pompously for a few days. What happened to Mussolini and Franco? He (PM Modi) will also walk around like this only for a few days,” said the former chief minister of the state.
Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai responded to Siddaramaiah's words as he said the entire country knows the personality of PM Modi and that such statements would not harm it.
“The entire 130 crore population of India knows Modi's personality. Someone's words won't do any harm. They spoke like this even in Gujarat, and yet he had emerged with maximum votes. The same is going to happen here”, said the CM.
Meanwhile, Union minister Pralhad Joshi said that Congress should look into the problems within the party.
“What about their party? Even today, Siddaramaiah is unwilling to accept Kharge as party president. He says only Rahul Gandhi's ideologies will be endorsed. In contrast, Modi is an elected leader and not appointed. He is not from any Gandhi Parivaar,” said the minister.
