MADRID: At least 21 people after a train derailed and overturned onto another train that was running on the adjacent track. The accident took place in the Cordoba province of southern Spain. The incident happened on Sunday night near the town of Adamuz. According to reports, a train running on the Malaga-Madrid route derailed and toppled onto another train that was travelling from Madrid to Huelva on the adjacent track, causing a collision between the two trains.
According to reports, the accident involved a train operated by the government-run Renfe company and another operated by a private company. The private company said that there were around 300 passengers on board at the time of the accident. The crash occurred within ten minutes after the train departed from Malaga. Train services on the Madrid-Andalusia route were suspended following the accident.
Authorities said that 21 bodies have been recovered so far. Several people are still trapped at the site. Videos circulating on social media show several coaches overturned and lying upside down.
