MOSCOW: A circus show turned tense when a large tiger jumped into the audience area, causing panic among spectators. The incident took place on Sunday in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The tiger escaped after a safety net separating the animals and the audience malfunctioned.

The moment unfolded while three tigers were performing on stools at the centre of the circus ring. A circular safety barrier suddenly collapsed due to a suspected technical fault. Seizing the opportunity, one tiger jumped toward the seating area packed with children and adults. People screamed and ran to safety. However, some spectators were seen recording videos on their mobile phones even as the tiger came close.

The circus director said that no one was injured in the incident. The trainer quickly put a collar on the tiger and safely moved it back to its enclosure. According to the director, the tiger was well-trained like a domestic animal, which is why it did not attack anyone. Initial reports suggest that human error may have caused the safety net to collapse. While many Western countries have banned the use of animals in circuses due to stricter animal welfare laws, animals like bears, elephants, and Siberian tigers are still used in circus performances in Russia.
