Amidst the ongoing divorce controversy with actor and Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam leader Vijay, his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam filed a new petition in the court. It is reported that she has approached the court seeking permission to continue living in the matrimonial house where she is currently residing. Sangeetha, who is also a UK citizen, said she does not own another house in India. She filed the petition seeking the right to live in their matrimonial home or to be provided with alternative accommodation.

A few days back, Sangeetha filed for divorce from Vijay at the Chengalpattu court. The petition alleges that Vijay has made it clear that he will not allow her to live in the house if she approaches the court for a legal separation. That has now forced Sangeetha to approach the court again, seeking interim relief regarding accommodation.

In the petition, Sangeetha had alleged Vijay of having an extramarital affair with an actress. The issue created huge buzz on social media, and many adjudged the actress as Trisha. Hyping the rumours and shocking even people within the industry, both Vijay and Trisha appeared together at the wedding reception of Kalpathi S. Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh's son. It was their first appearance after the divorce scandal.

Sangeetha, who binge-watched Poove Unakkaga, used to write letters to Vijay regularly during her student days at the University of London. Their friendship blossomed into love, and with the permission of their families, the two got married in August 1999.
