CHENNAI: Actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam reportedly warned that all the party's MLAs will resign if the DMK and AIADMK coalesce to form the government in Tamil Nadu. This comes after reports that Dravidian parties are in talks to form a rare alliance in the state. TVK suspects that the two parties colluding to form the government in the state means ignoring the people's mandate. TVK also demanded that the Governor invite them to form the government since it is the single largest party with 108 seats.

However, Governor R V Arlekar denied Vijay permission, citing the lack of a majority. He also did not accept the plan presented by Vijay to achieve a majority. The government formation was in crisis when the Governor insisted on providing letters of support from 118 MLAs. The Governor explained that the majority support required to form the government in the Tamil Nadu Assembly has not been established.

TVK needs ten more seats to gain a majority. Talks are underway with the Left and some smaller parties. If nothing comes to fruition, TVK is planning to approach the court.
