BHUBANESWAR: In a shocking incident in Subarnapur, a newlywed woman was abducted at gunpoint by her former lover. The incident occurred in broad daylight while the couple was returning home after their wedding ceremony. The groom lodged a complaint with the Tarbha police, who immediately launched an investigation to track down the accused and rescue the woman.

The marriage between Balangir native Haribandhu Patel and the woman from Kanthamal took place last Saturday. After the wedding, the couple was returning to the groom's house in a vehicle with their relatives. During the journey, a three-member gang stopped their vehicle near Badabandha on Tarbha Road.

The accused threatened Haribandhu Patel and the group at gunpoint and then forcibly took the bride away in another vehicle. Following the incident, the groom went to the Tarbha police station and filed a complaint. The complaint states that he was held at gunpoint while his wife was kidnapped. The police suspect that the woman's ex-boyfriend is behind the incident. Based on the groom's complaint, the police have registered a case and started an investigation.
