NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has been expelled from the Lok Sabha after a discussion on the report of the Ethics Committee in the 'cash for query' that was tabled in the Lower House today. The Parliamentary Ethics Committee, which investigated the complaint, had issued a report recommending Mahua's expulsion. Mahua was expelled from the Lok Sabha by moving a resolution considering this report.
Although the opposition, including the Congress, demanded time to study the report of the Ethics Committee, Speaker Om Birla did not allow it. The speaker also rejected the demand that Mahua should be given an opportunity to respond in Parliament. After being expelled from the Parliament, Mahua Moitra told the media that the Ethics Committee broke every rule. She also said that the Ethics Committee prepared the report against her without hearing what she had to say.
Mahua also said that she would continue her fight against Adani. "They expelled me for speaking against Adani. I will continue to fight for the next 30 years inside and outside the Parliament," Mahua said.
