KOZHIKODE: The family of Arjun, who went missing in the landslide in Shirur, lodged a complaint with the police against the cyberattacks. The family alleged that some are propagating fake news on social media. The family in the complaint stated that some YouTube channels edited and changed what Arjun's mother told media and gave offensive news. The complaint was lodged at the Chevayur police station.
The cyberattack is over the remarks made by the family on the day the army started the rescue operations. The family alleged that a fake video is being circulated after editing the concerns and worries expressed by his mother and sister, over the search for Arjun.
There has been a lot of discussion on social media ever since he went missing. The cyberattacks are towards Arjun's family and rescue workers. Many had gone to Shirur for the rescue operations from Kerala. Many people came forward for and against this.
There was also criticism that people who had no knowledge of the place reached Karnataka for the rescue operations. Following this, keeping away many including the media at a distance of three kilometers, had stoked a controversy.
Although Arjun went missing on July 16, there were allegations that the search from the side of the Karnataka government was ineffective. The search intensified from last Thursday following the strong political intervention from Kerala. Shortly, following the request of Arjun's family, the army arrived and started the rescue operations.
