ISRO’s PSLV-C61 satellite mission fails, says ISRO

SRIHARIKOTA: ISRO's PSLV-C61 mission has failed. The mission failed due to unexpected problems in the third stage after the launch. ISRO Chairman Dr V Narayanan informed that PSLV- C61 did not find the target and could not put the Earth observation satellite into orbit.


PSLV-C61 soared into the skies at 5.59 am Sunday from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The most powerful variant of PSLV, XL, was used for this launch.

The PSLV attempted to put the earth observation satellite EOS 09 into space in its 63rd mission. EOS 09 is ISRO's 101st satellite. This was the 63rd mission of PSLV. PSLV C61 was 44.5 meters long and weighed 321 tonnes.
