
SRIHARIKOTA: ISRO's Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3)-M6 took off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh Wednesday morning. ISRO launched the world's first satellite, Bluebird Block - 2, which will provide internet directly to mobile phones without towers and optical fiber cables. The launch was carried out for the American company AST Mobile. This is a next-generation satellite that will provide high-speed cellular broadband directly to smartphones around the world.
ISRO chairman V Narayanan informed that the Bluebird Block -2 satellite has been placed in the correct orbit. Calling it a proud moment, he congratulated everyone who worked behind it.
The heaviest satellite launch in ISRO's history took place at 8.24 am in Sriharikota. It weighs 6500 kilograms. The orbit has been set at a distance of 520 km from the earth. The L110 Hythras Vikas engine has successfully separated from the rocket and the C25 cryogenic stage has also started operating. With this, Bluebird Block - 2 will also acquire the reputation of being the largest commercial communication satellite.
