KARGIL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the soldiers who lost their lives in the Kargil war. The Prime Minister visited Kargil on the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas to honour the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation. The function was held at the War Memorial in Drass. Modi said the service of the soldiers for the nation is immortal and will always be remembered in the form of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The Prime Minister will talk to the widows of martyred soldiers. Modi will also initiate the construction of the Shinkun La Tunnel to facilitate the movement of troops along the border. The 4.1 km long twin tunnel is being constructed on the Nimmu-Padum-Darcha road at an altitude of 15,800 feet. It can be used in all weather conditions. It is the tallest tunnel in the world.

There have been many post-independence Pakistani provocations, taking advantage of India's restraint to encroach on the border and conduct shadow wars. Among them, the Kargil war is unparalleled in the history of world wars. It is a victory or victory day for our brave soldiers who hold together the feeling of India with different language and different cultures. Since May 1999, 527 jawans have sacrificed their lives for the nation in the war that lasted for two months.
