NEW DELHI: A staff of the Indian Navy has been arrested for spying for Pakistan. The arrested is Vishal Yadav, a clerk in the directorate of dockyard at the Air Force headquarters in Delhi. He is from Haryana. Reports say that he had been leaking information for Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI for years. Vishal was found to have passed information to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
Vishal was under surveillance for months. He was taken into custody by the Intelligence Branch of Rajasthan Police. He was arrested under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. He had passed confidential documents related to the Navy and other defence units to a woman in Pakistan. Vishal came in touch with the woman named Priya Sharma through social media. The investigation also revealed that he had been spying for money. Senior police officer Vishnukant Gupta said that Rajasthan's CID intelligence unit is monitoring the espionage activities of Pakistani intelligence agencies and Vishal's arrest is part of this.
Vishal, who is addicted to online games, secretly leaked information to Pakistan to pay off his financial obligations. He received money through a cryptocurrency trading account. The police said that the accused, who was taken into custody, is being questioned and that more information is needed.
