LUCKNOW: A video of a BJP leader announcing a bounty of Rs one crore on Trinamool Congress MP Sayoni Ghosh sparked controversy in West Bengal. The controversial remark was made by BJP municipal chairman in Uttar Pradesh, Pradeep Dixit. After the video went viral on social media, Pradeep Dixit came forward, denying making such a statement and termed the video fake.

The BJP leader's remarks came during a protest event organised by Hindu organisations in Secunderabad on Sunday. Hindu organisations alleged that Sayoni Ghosh had once used vile insults against Lord Shiva and the Shivalingam, hurting the sentiments of Hindu believers. While participating in the event organised to protest this incident, a video of Pradeep Dixit announcing a reward of Rs 1 crore for the head of Sayoni surfaced on social media.

However, Pradeep Dixit responded by saying that he had not made such a statement and that it was only footage of a procession held on Sunday. He also alleged that opponents had manipulated the video and circulated it online.
