SRINAGAR: Two soldiers were killed and another critically injured in an explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district on Tuesday. The blast, suspected to be caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by terrorists, occurred during a fence patrol in the Laleali area of the Akhnoor sector.
Army officials have confirmed the incident, stating that further details are awaiting as search operations are underway in the area.
The White Knight Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers in a post on X, saluting their sacrifice:
"Suspected Improvised Explosive Device blast reported in Laleali in Akhnoor Sector during a fence patrol resulting in two fatalities. Own troops are dominating the area, and search operations are underway. White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers."
This incident occurred three days after suspected militants, believed to be hiding in the forests of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), opened fire on Indian soldiers patrolling the LoC in the Rajouri district on Saturday afternoon. Indian troops retaliated, with no casualties reported on the Indian side. Authorities have since strengthened the anti-infiltration grid and heightened vigilance in the area.
