Woman in Kanpur axes husband to death after heated argument in drunken brawl

KANPUR: A woman axed her husband to death following a heated argument after consuming alcohol together. The incident happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Tikra. The dead is 45-year-old Ravishankar Savita alias Pappu, a tile worker. Pappu and his wife Veerangana were consuming liquor together at night. An argument broke out between the two and in a fit of rage, she slashed Pappu's head. Reports say she slashed him more than ten times.


Seriously injured Pappu was taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. Police said the woman escaped with her four-year-old son after realizing that her husband was dead. Veerangana attacked her husband after a verbal dispute that lasted for about two hours.

The two got married in 2019. Pappu's mother Bitola Devi said there were fights and problems between the two within months of their marriage. The postmortem report said the wife attacked Pappu not only with an axe but also with a grinding stone. Police said they are searching for the woman.
