‘Sir, can you please release my son, I only have him now’; pleads Afaan’s mother 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shemi, mother of Afaan, accused in the Venjaramoodu mass killing, reiterated that she sustained injuries in a fall from the bed. While talking to a media, she requested to release her son from the jail.

‘I’ve difficulty in walking. What I said is correct. I remember only that. I fell from the bed. Police asked me twice. I remember leaving my son to school on that day. I told them that.

Sir, can you release my son. Please help to release him. My younger son is no more and I have only my elder son. Help to release him. My hope is on him. Otherwise, I would have done something,’ she said.

The investigating team twice recorded her statement. A team led by Venjaramoodu SHO R P Anoop Krishna had reached the special care home where she is housed the other day and had talked to her.

When they asked her how she sustained injuries, she said that she fell from the bed. When they said that one falling from the bed will not suffer such serious injuries, she replied that when she tried to stand up from the first fall, she fell again. She tried to evade from the question on whether she remembers the things that happened on the fateful day.
