KOCHI: Mulavukad panchayat president V S Akbar reacted on the incident of throwing garbage into the lake from singer M G Sreekumar's house. While talking to the media, he said the intention was not to blemish the image of someone like M G Sreekumar, but to make him understand the seriousness of the matter.

He should be a role model for others. The singer should tell his employees not to do such things. M G Sreekumar's assistant came and paid the fine on March 31. Akbar said the singer was not at home when the incident happened.

Akbar said Haritha Karma Sena is not able to collect plastic from the singer’s house. When the Sena members go to that house, the security will not allow them to enter, saying that there is no one there. Or else will say that food is not prepared here and there is no plastic. He clarified that the panchayat should be made aware of this as per the government law.

A video of a tourist capturing the garbage bag falling into the lake from M G Sreekumar's house in Mulavukad panchayat had surfaced earlier. M G Sreekumar had to pay the fine of Rs 25,000 after this. He told a media that the mango that fell in the yard was thrown into the lake by the maid and what she did is wrong.
