THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI will return back to Kerala with an aim to find the ‘real villains’ behind the untimely death of violinist Balabhaskar. The gold smuggling, mysterious money transactions, and statements of Balu's crew members and friends will be re-investigated.
In the report submitted by the CBI along with the FIR, it was stated that gold smugglers were involved in the accident and there was a mysterious financial transaction that happened after Balu's death. Eight months after Balabhaskar's death, his manager Prakashan Thambi, Balu’s friend Vishnu Somasundara, and violinist Abdul Jameel were accused in the 25 kg gold smuggling case through Thiruvananthapuram airport.
The CBI will rush headlong into the case and will find whether any of the smuggling links contributed to the horrific car accident that took the famed violinist’s life. The CBI has also unearthed a crucial finding that says all the aforementioned gang members returned to their old ways of smuggling right after Balabhaskar’s death.
Prakash and Vishnu, the accused in the gold scam, were subjected to a polygraph test by the CBI. The main accused in the gold scam was present at the site of the accident and his mobile tower location even confirmed this. Albeit having such a grip over the culprits, the case remained stalled for so long.
The DRI found that 26 people smuggled 705 kg of gold worth Rs 350 crore in 65 days with the connivance of Customs Superintendent Radhakrishnan. Recordist Abdul Jabbar was the carrier. The initial investigation revealed that it was only after Balabhaskar’s death that the gang turned to smuggling gold.
According to CBI, the friends never utilized Balabhaskars’s connections to help the gold smuggling business thrive. At the same time, the crime branch has found that excessive speed and carelessness are the causes of the car accident that led to the violinist’s tragic death.
