THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K. Mani has alleged that CPM workers engaged in cross-voting during the Assembly election. He also said that the campaign claiming an LDF-RSS deal led to a loss of minority votes. Jose K Mani was speaking after a meeting of the party’s steering committee.

He said that Kerala Congress (M) secured a better vote share than the Joseph group. According to him, the party lost in many places by very small margins. He also pointed out that even the winning candidates could not secure 50 percent of the votes in several constituencies.

“It was a close finish. We have not lost our vote bank. We are confident that we will recover from our setbacks,” he said.

Jose K Mani added that allegations of cross-voting are being widely discussed. “We saw signs of it in Kannur. The deal allegation affected the election. Even party workers are saying that cross-voting happened. If it is proven, it is a serious matter,” he said.

He further stated that development activities failed to get a people-friendly image and added that political alliances cannot keep changing all the time.
