Collector Divya S Iyer reveals she was sexually assaulted when she was six 

PATHANAMTHITTA: Pathanamthitta district collector Divya S Iyer revealed that she was sexually assaulted when she was six years old. The collector was inaugurating a training program organized under the auspices of the district child protection unit to alert the media about the things to be noticed while reporting news about children who are victims of violence.

She said that she suffered the bad experience when she was six. The faces of two people in it are not clearly remembered. They affectionately called me to their side and touched my body. They tried to strip me. When realized that something unexpected was going to happen, ran from their clutches. I felt like doing that then, but not all children can do that, she said.

The collector said that she was able to escape from that trauma only because of her parents’ psychological support. Later, when I face crowds, I will look carefully at everyone to see if those two faces were there. The collector said such kinds of traumas meted to innocent childhoods will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
