Doctor, patient trapped after lift malfunctions in MCH again

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two people got trapped in the lift again at the medical college hospital in the capital city. A woman doctor of the hospital and a patient got stuck in the lift after it malfunctioned. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon.


The patient was on the stretcher. The two got stuck in the lift going from the casualty to the CT scan room. On being informed, the medical college police reached the spot and brought them out.


The lift could not be opened from inside. Both were stuck in the lift for about ten minutes. After the doctor sounded the emergency alarm and informed via phone, the employees and the police reached the spot and rescued both of them.


The two got stuck in the lift again after a man was trapped in the lift for two days. This had sparked a controversy. Raveendran Nair (59) of Ulloor, a temporary employee of MLA Hostel, was stuck in the lift for two days. Three staff members were suspended as investigation is continuing.
