THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The doctors in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital (MCH) are staging strong protests in protest against the attack on one of their women colleagues by the husband of a patient. The strike which started at 8 am Friday morning will end at 8 pm. The PG Medicos of the hospital are protesting. The patient’s husband kicked the doctor last Wednesday when she informed him about her death. The doctors are striking as strong action was not taken. Senthil Kumar, the patient’s husband, a native of Kollam, has not been arrested so far.
The patients will suffer as the duty doctors will boycott services. However, casualty, ICU and labour room will not be affected.
A march to the police station will be led by PG Doctors. The march is jointly by the organization of the medical college doctors and KGMCTA. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) have also pledged their support. The IMA has informed that if strong action is not taken in such hospital attacks, a statewide strike will be staged.
