
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Out of the 1,254 candidates who filed nominations for the Assembly elections, 257 nominations were rejected during the scrutiny held on Tuesday. A total of 12 candidates withdrew their nominations. As a result, 985 candidates remain in the fray, including dummy candidates.
None of the nominations of major front candidates was rejected. Today is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Dummy candidates are expected to withdraw today, after which the final list of candidates will be confirmed.
Among districts, Thiruvananthapuram has the highest number of candidates with 115, while Wayanad has the lowest with 22. Among constituencies, Kozhikode’s Koduvally has the highest number of candidates at 17. The lowest number is in the reserved constituencies of Nattika in Thrissur and Mananthavady in Wayanad, with three candidates each. According to the final voter list published on Tuesday, the state has 2.72 crore voters.
