Fisherman dies as boat capsizes in Anchuthengu, two swam to safety

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 54-year-old fisherman died on Monday after his boat capsized in Anchuthengu. He has been identified as Babu of Anchuthengu. Two who were with him swam to safety. The incident happened Monday morning at 6 am. Police said strong winds and rain caused the boat to capsize. Fishermen were asked to be alert as there is a possibility of wind along with extensive rain.

Meantime, westerly winds are strong in the Arabian Sea. According to the Kerala Meteorological Department, heavy rains are likely in Kerala as well due to the formation of cyclones over South Karnataka. Red alert has been declared in five districts. The red alert is in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur.
