Goods train derails in Kochi; trains running late

KOCHI: The engine of a goods train derailed in Kalamassery. The incident took place at 2.50 pm today. There are no reports of any casualties. The accident occurred when the service was starting from Kalamassery. The engine crossed the barricade at the end of the track during shunting and hit an electric post.

The accident affected train traffic. Traffic on one route to Shoranur has been disrupted. The railways said that traffic will be restored soon. There was a power outage on the track, which disrupted an Aluva-bound train. The Eranad Express bound for Thiruvananthapuram was stopped for an extended period at Aluva. The Thiruvananthapuram-Indore weekly train is running late by an hour and a half.
