KOCHI: A division bench of the High Court has dismissed the appeal challenging the single bench's decision to quash the government order that designated 25 Saturdays as working days to ensure 220 academic days. The division bench, comprising Justice Amit Rawal and Justice S Eswaran, made the decision in light of the government's scheduled review of the matter on the 9th of this month.

The appeal was filed by the manager of Ebenezer Higher Secondary School in Veettur, Muvattupuzha. The single bench had earlier suggested that the government should take a decision on increasing the number of working days only after consulting with teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders, in line with the Central Right to Education Act.

In response, the government has called a meeting to discuss the matter further. The court has now disposed of the appeal, upholding the single bench's recommendation for a more inclusive decision-making process.
