THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pournamikavu and Dhanalakshmi Group of Companies created history by conducting social weddings within a tribal community. The social wedding ceremony coincided with the inauguration of the 100th branch of the Thrissur-based Dhanalakshmi Group of Companies.
A total of 216 people from the tribal community married on Monday, ergo entering a new phase of life. The bride and groom, dressed in the same colour wedding attires circled the deity before entering the Kathirmandapam(pulpit).
At 12:06 pm, the mangalasutra was knotted and rings exchanged. Tulsi garlands were placed and bouquets exchanged. Hundreds of devotees witnessed the ceremony which was accompanied by Panchavadyam and Chendamela. Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai was the Chief Guest.
PS Sreedharan Pillai also received the Asian Book of Record for the largest tribal social wedding event (216), and he later handed it over to temple trustee Sohal RC Babu. Tribal art performances by ingenious artists added to the community's gaiety. From 7 in the morning to 12 in the night, sumptuous foods were served continuously.
Dhanalakshmi Group and Pournamikavu also assured financial security for the newly married couple to sail ahead in life. Pournamikavu and Dhanalakshmi Group will bear the cost of the education of the children born to them.
