THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A light to moderate rain with thundershowers at isolated places and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph over Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod are likely in Kerala in the next three hours; and a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Wayanad.
The state will receive heavy rains this week due to heavy monsoon and the influence of upper cyclonic circulation over Telangana. The rain that started yesterday will continue till Monday. The central and northern districts will receive heavy rainfall.
In the hilly areas of the northern districts, there is a threat of flash floods, landslides and mountain floods. There will be heavy rain in the hilly areas of southern districts. Rainfall is generally less along the coast.
Fishermen and coastal residents should stay away from danger zones, moor boats securely, and avoid beach and sea activities due to the possibility of storm surges.
