
KOZHIKODE: Key VIP constituencies in Kerala witnessed enthusiastic voter turnout during the elections. In Dharmadom, where Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is contesting, the turnout was recorded at 80.5%. In Paravur, represented by Opposition Leader VD Satheesan, the turnout stood at 81.41%. Meanwhile, Nemom, which is witnessing a strong triangular contest and where BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar is in the fray, recorded 80.62% polling.
Compared to the 2021 elections, the polling percentage increased in Nemom, where it was 69.92% last time. In Paravur, turnout dropped slightly from 83.45% in 2021 to around 81% this time. In Dharmadom, turnout was 80.21% in 2021. By noon, polling had crossed 40 percent in all three constituencies. Long queues were seen in many booths even after 6 pm.
In the 2021 elections, Pinarayi Vijayan had won Dharmadam with a margin of 50,123 votes. In Paravur, VD Satheesan secured victory with a margin of 21,301 votes. In Nemom, minister V Sivankutty had won by a margin of 3,941 votes.
