PATHANAMTHITTA: Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil visited the famous Judge Ammavan Kovil at the Cheruvalli Devi Temple in Ponkunnam. Rahul came here in the evening and offered obeisance. His temple visit is amid legal proceedings in connection with the rape cases.

This is a unique temple where those involved in court cases make offerings to obtain a favourable verdict. Actor Dileep had visited this temple several times during the trial period of the actress assault case. Sreesanth had also come here to offer prayers during the cricket bribery scandal. In this context, Rahul Mamkootathil's visit has gained attention in political and legal circles.

The two cases filed by the government against Rahul are currently under consideration in the High Court. The Thiruvananthapuram District Sessions Court had granted anticipatory bail to Rahul in the case of raping a Bengaluru native Malayali. The government's petition challenging this anticipatory bail has been postponed to be considered after the Christmas vacation. When the single bench considered the case today, the case was postponed to the first week of January after Rahul's lawyer requested a detailed hearing. Rahul's plea against the denial of anticipatory bail in the first rape case has been adjourned for hearing by another bench of the High Court on Thursday. The interim order against his arrest in the case will continue for the time being.
