Mayor-Driver spat: Police confirm evidence to support Mayor's claim

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police recreated the mayor-KSRTC driver feud according to the complaint about the KSRTC bus driver not allowing the Mayor’s car to pass through. The complaint also alleged that the driver showed obscene gestures at the family members. The trip was recreated four days ago to confirm the allegations against driver Yadhu.

On the 25th, the police travelled from Plamoodu to PMG by driving a bus, followed by a car at the same time. The cantonment assistant commissioner confirmed receiving strong evidence to support the mayor's complaint. The police found that the person in the back seat of the car could see the driver making obscene gestures.

The Cantonment Police had registered a case against Yadhu for insulting women. The Assistant Commissioner stated that it is customary to record mahazar in such cases. Apart from the mayor, her husband Sachin Dev MLA, Arya's brother and sister-in-law were also in the car. Their car, which was returning after the wedding reception, was not given space by the KSRTC bus. The mayor’s car then blocked the bus in front of the Palayam shopping complex and she alleged the driver of reckless driving and also making obscene gestures.

Passengers stated that Sachin Dev boarded the bus during an argument with the bus driver. The conductor's trip sheet also says that Sachin boarded the bus. However, Sachin told the police that he did not board the bus and did not disrupt the service.
