Parents and daughter killed after auto rams into KSRTC bus

MALAPPURAM: A girl and her parents died after an auto and a KSRTC bus collided at Melmuri in Malappuram. The dead have been identified as Ashraf (45) of Mongam Trippanachi, his wife Sajida (37) and their daughter Fida (15). The auto was driven by Ashraf.

The incident happened at 12.30 pm when they were going to Malappuram Government Girls Higher Secondary School for Fida’s plus one admission. The auto rammed into the KSRTC bus going to Kozhikode from Palakkad. The CCTV visuals showed the auto coming in the wrong direction. Seeing the auto coming, the driver tried his best to stop the bus to one side, but in the meanwhile the auto rammed into it. Ashraf and Fida died on the spot itself and Sajida on way to the hospital. All three were bleeding profusely.

The auto has been completely damaged in the accident. Only the driver was in the bus. The bodies of the three have been shifted to Malappuram District Hospital.


Initial reports said the driver dozed off and this led to the accident. However, police said further investigation is needed to find out the cause of the accident. Eyewitnesses also said that despite seeing the bus coming, the auto failed to apply the brake.
