PALAKKAD: CPM leader PK Sasi, who faced demotion within the party, may step down from the post of KTDCC chairman before the party asks him to do so. Additionally, Sasi may file an appeal with the state committee against the district committee's decision to demote him, arguing that the action was taken in violation of party rules and regulations.

Allegations have been raised against PK Sasi regarding irregularities in the operations of the cooperative college under party control in Mannarkkad and in accepting funds from cooperative institutions under party control. The main finding of the investigation is that Sasi had diverted lakhs of rupees from party funds to his own account. It is alleged that PK Sasi had diverted Rs 10 lakh from the party office construction fund and another Rs 10 lakh from the district conference fund. The investigation report criticizes Sasi's lifestyle, stating it is not in line with communist principles. Furthermore, it has been discovered that Rs 5 crore and 49 lakh were collected as shares from cooperative banks under party control, without the party's knowledge or consent.

Action against Sasi; difference of opinion within CPM leadership
Meanwhile, it is reported that there is a difference of opinion within the CPM state leadership regarding the disciplinary action against PK Sasi. Some members of the secretariat have expressed the opinion that the action taken, based on the investigation report into the financial irregularities complaint, was hasty.
