PK Sasi may become rebel candidate in Ottapalam; Congress local leaders express displeasure

PALAKKAD: Former Shornur MLA PK Sasi is considering his options to contest the election as a rebel in Ottapalam. The plan is to contest with UDF support after forming a CPM rebel coalition in Ottapalam. There are indications that PK Sasi has approached the UDF leaders in Ottapalam seeking help in contesting.

However, a section within Congress is not welcoming the idea of supporting Sasi, who had faced serious sexual allegation charges before. The congress workers in the area opined that it was embarrassing to reach out to the public requesting votes for a person whom they once vehemently protested against.

A section of Congress leaders told the KPCC not to make Sasi a candidate even if he joins UDF. The demand is to give Congress leader Harigovindan or Youth Congress leader O.K. Farooq a chance to contest from Ottapalam. Following serious complaints, CPM had suspended P.K. Sasi in 2021 without giving him a candidature.
