ALAPPUZHA: CPM is all set to weaponise G Sudhakaran’s statement that he would easily get votes from RSS and BJP this time in Ambalappuzha. CPM looks to portray Sudhakaran as being in nexus with communal forces. CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan suggested at the district secretariat and the Ambalappuzha Mandal Committee meeting that the victory is a matter of pride for the party.
CPM decided to ramp up the attack after insider reports suggested Sudhakaran would put up a great fight in the elections.
The CPM will explain the incident of destroying the Krishna Pillai memorial and the truth of the allegations against the leaders in the election public meetings and conferences. There will also be criticism against Sudhakaran at the Chief Minister's meeting to be held in Ambalappuzha on April 1. The leadership has also instructed workers and candidates to visit as many houses in the constituency as possible to douse the ‘Sudhakaran effect’.
CPM state secretary MV Govindan said that LDF returning to power after facing a defeat in Ambalappuzha is akin to a loss in the elections. Govindan suggested in the district secretariat meeting held on Saturday that strong work should be ensured from the grassroots to ensure victory.
Govindan also suggested that cadre votes should be ensured. After this, a meeting of party leaders from Alappuzha, Ambalapuzha and Kayamkulam constituencies was called to report the suggestions and decisions. Central committee member C.S. Sujatha, state secretariat member Saji Cherian, district secretary R. Nassar and others were present.
