KOCHI: The producers have sent a letter to Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) demanding to control the online media. The letter asked to make accreditation mandatory. The reports that came in said that the matter will be discussed in FEFKA Steering Committee to be held tomorrow.

The producers have been discussing this issue for the past six months. However, reports said the reason for giving the letter now is following some incidents that happened recently. The way many media reported the death of actor Siddique’s son after going to his house and the bad experiences many actresses faced from the online media.
There was widespread criticism against the reporting by some online media after reaching Siddique's house. The criticism was that they did not even consider that it was a death house. Recently during an interview, an anchor behaved very badly towards a leading actress. Finally, the actress had to leave midway.

Moreover, a YouTube channel telecasting the visuals of the general body meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) the other day had stoked a controversy. The public debate of a secretive nature, the electoral process and all the commotion that ensued were witnessed by the outside world. It is assessed that it caused embarrassment to the organization. In the background of all this, it is indicated that the producers have given a letter to curb the online media.
