rain

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains at isolated places in the state from today till July 3. This is because the low-pressure area is located from the Kerala coast to the Maharashtra coast and the cyclonic circulation is located over North Gujarat.

The department has issued orange and yellow alerts in various districts. Kannur and Kasaragod are on orange alert today due to heavy rain. Meantime, yellow alert has been sounded today in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad. A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and on July 3 in Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has warned that there is a possibility of Kallakadal phenomenon and high waves on the Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow. Fishermen and coastal residents of these areas have also been warned to be extra careful.

Fishermen and coastal residents should exercise caution.

1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Keep fishing vessels safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
3. Avoid trips to the beach and fun at sea altogether
