Sanad Dana event: League-sceptic Samstha leaders denied invitation

MALAPPURAM: Muslim League state chief Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal denied invitation to League-critiquing Samastha leaders to the Sanad Dana Annual Campaign to be held at Jami'a Nooriyya in Pattikkad. SYS state secretary Abdul Hameed Faizy Ambalakkadavu and SKSSF state vice-president Sathar Panthaloor are not on the list of speakers at Sunday's general meeting. Rasheed Faizy Vellayikode, Musthafa Mundupara and Swalahudheen Faizy Vallappuzha have also been avoided.

Allegations have been raised about the exclusion of these regular participants in the gathering of the Jami'a Nooriyya in Pattikkad, the most important educational institution of the EK sect Sunnis, which many said was a violation of norms. Fingers are being pointed at Muslim League leaders as many believe the exclusion plan to be the brainchild of league leadership.

Abdul Hameed Faizy’s controversial post asking Islam followers to avoid cutting cake on Christmas made the league leadership drop him from the event. BJP state president K. Surendran shared a photo of Muslim league leaders cutting the cake with them at the Christmas function held at the KCBC headquarters on Facebook. This post irked Faizy who asked Islam followers to stay away from participating in such events as he marked the event as sacrilege.

Anti-League stances in Samastha, including the Single Civil Code issue and the appointment of the Waqf Board, had strained the League-Samastha relationship in the recent past. The Sanad Dana Annual Campaign will start on Wednesday.
