Don’t worry, as this is a Cell Broadcast Alert System testing made to enhance emergency communication during disasters. Cell Broadcasting system helps in reporting natural calamities and taking safety precautions.

Warning messages regarding emergency procedures may also be received. Do not respond to messages. An alarm-like sound will also come from the phone.

It is jointly conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority, the Department of Telecommunication, and State and District Disaster Management Authorities. This is to take safety precautions during calamities like earthquakes, tsunamis and floods.

The trial will be conducted in certain parts of Kerala on a zone basis. Alerting through television and radio is also under consideration.
