SOP for land type conversion will be issued this week, new applications must be submitted online

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The revenue department will release the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for expeditious processing of pending applications related to land type conversion this week. New applications for conversion must be submitted online.

All district collectors have been directed to form a special team of officials to expedite the examination of old applications. Steps are also being taken to recruit temporary staff through the Employment Exchange. Notice was sent to the candidates from the registered list. 18 junior superintendents have been promoted and posted in all the districts. This is to start the process of adjudicating applications even before the appointment of temporary staff. Next week, the minister will directly assess the progress of the work.

For six months, 990 temporary posts of junior superintendent, clerk, data entry operator and surveyor were created for various revenue offices and Rs 6 crore was sanctioned for setting up of IT related facilities. A special cell has been set up at the Land Revenue Commissioner's Office to assess settlement progress in RDO offices and other offices.

Priority to Life project

Special consideration will be given to the clients involved in the Life project, although the land type conversion applications will be done on a priority basis. A special committee consisting of RDO, senior superintendent and junior superintendent will be constituted in each Revenue Divisional Office.
